Identity Theft – Finding Who You Are In Christ (Week 13): “We Are Illuminated”

Jason Mayhall, Lead Pastor – Ephesians 5:1-21

Redemption Bible Church continues its study of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, led by Pastor Jason Mayhall. In the sermon series entitled “Identity Theft,” we look at Ephesians 5, where Paul teaches how we should live as Christians. Paul’s letter talks about how all humans are capable of living in darkness and committing evil acts, as that is our nature. We have to recognize that the sacrifice of Jesus enables us to be children of the light, rather than continuing to live with our sins. To truly accept this, we must be honest about our own sin with God and our fellow Christians. We must talk about our sins and struggles. There is no perfect church community — we all have issues. However, it is through exposing these struggles and talking to our community that we can love and serve others. Paul also talks about how living as a Christian means accepting that we have been granted the wisdom to know what God wants us to do. We must look at our lives and make sure we’re making the best use of the limited time we have. Finally, at the heart of Christianity is joy, the joy that comes from knowing Jesus and that we have been redeemed. It is this joy that can drive us to give thanks to God, to glorify Him, and encourage us to serve one another.
