SOLA (Week 5): “Soli Deo Gloria”

David Northup, Elder/Teacher – Romans 11:33-36

The series “SOLA” is concluded this week with the fifth and final Sola, led by David Northup – one of the elders of Redemption Bible Church. David describes how it is through God’s glory alone that all things happen. We must orient our lives toward God as the center of our faith and ignore those that might lead us astray. We must remember that it is only through God that sin can be forgiven. We talk about living a life centered on God’s glory at home, at work, and at play.

Trust Fall (Week 7): “Blamelessly Walking With God”

David Northup, Elder/Teacher – Genesis 17:1-8

Redemption Bible Church continues its examination of the story of Abraham in the sermon series entitled “Trust Fall.” This week, we are led by one of our church’s elders, David Northup, as we look at Genesis 17. We see through Abraham someone who was focused on obeying the Lord, but also had lapses and crises of faith. In this chapter, we see God communicating to Abraham in Canaan almost 2,000 years before the birth of Jesus. God commands Abraham to make his daily life; his thoughts, words, and deeds, thoroughly pleasing to God. By trusting God’s promise, Abraham was counted as righteous. God then established an everlasting covenant with Abraham and his people to always be there for them. It shows how God enjoys his relationships with his people, reaching out to us to draw us closer to him. With respect to living a life that is pleasing to God, blameless, we see it is later Jesus who is the one that actually led a sinless, blameless life, as a continuation of that covenant. Since that time we have Jesus who will take the sin away from us. Through His actions we can be blameless, if we trust in Him.

Unwrapping Christmas (Week 1): “Our Mysterious and Majestic King”

David Northup, Elder/Teacher – Matthew 1:18-25

Redemption Bible Church is led by one of the elders, David Northup, in a new sermon series looking at the birth of Jesus Christ entitled “Unwrapping Christmas.” David asks us to look at how Joseph handled Mary’s pregnancy and what can we learn from this truly unique event. Everyone must handle unexpected, stressful events. How many of us would handle these with the grace of Joseph? We are asked to examine our own lives, to think about what issues are we dealing with today? Do you trust God with it? Do you seek out His will? When He answers and eliminates our uncertainty, will you obey? Christmas is our reminder that we are not alone. God himself has given us eternal security in Him. Let us take that to heart today and every day as we face uncertainty!

After Eden (Week 5): “Progressive Covenants & Our Response”

David Northup, Elder/Teacher – Genesis 9:1-17

Redemption Bible Church is led by one of its elders, David Northup. David teaches about rebirth after the flood as well as the history of progressive covenants through the use of dramatic monologue, a systematic approach to studying the Bible, and a person testimony. He examines the first creation covenant established with Adam as it compares to the current covenant we are studying with Noah and the covenants we live with today. This message is part of the current sermon series entitled “After Eden,” which sheds light on what happened to God’s people after sin entered the world. We are asked to look at how our lives have been changed by God; to look inward and accept His gift of grace and the covenant God has put in front of us.
