Identity Theft – Finding Who You Are In Christ (Week 16): “We Are Rewarded”

Doug Recker, Elder/Teacher – Ephesians 6:5-9

Doug Recker, one of the elders of Redemption Bible Church, teaches how one’s relationship with Christ should transform our relationships at work. As a part of the “Identity Theft” sermon series, we continue the study of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Doug describes Paul’s letter in relation to modern times, guiding us on how both employers and employees can honor God through our work. Given the time at which Paul wrote it his letter is centered on the relationships between slaves and masters, as roughly 1/3 of the population were living in this type of a arrangement. Slavery is among the most difficult topics in the Bible. Paul exhorts Christian slaves to obey their masters, but does that mean the Bible condones slavery? At that time and now, employees are to obey their employers, and employers are to care for their employees. Jesus sees, knows and rewards those under authority and those in authority.
