When Love Came Down (Week 4): “The Result of the Incarnation”

Jason Mayhall, Lead Pastor – Matthew 1:23

Pastor Jason Mayhall concludes the Christmas season’s series, “When Love Came Down,” at Redemption Bible Church. In Matthew 1, Mary is found to be pregnant with baby Jesus. Joseph considers a quiet divorce before he is visited by an angel who instructs him to be patient and obey God’s will. Pastor Jason reminds us that something important to remember is that God sees us as He saw Joseph; He knows us, and is with us. Even when life is difficult and things are unclear or unknown, God is with us. God will save us from our sins, and we need to be obedient to Him. We all matter in the eyes of God. As the Christmas season comes to an end, some questions we need to consider are: Are we allowing God to be with us? Are we obeying God’s commands? Are we being patient and looking toward Jesus as the example for how we should behave?

When Love Came Down (Week 3): “The Glory of the Incarnation”

Jason Mayhall, Lead Pastor – Philippians 2:1-11

Redemption Bible Church begins week three of four in the current sermon series, “When Love Came Down,” a celebration of the Christmas season. Pastor Jason Mayhall teaches about what it takes for the Gospel to transform one’s life. Through Philippians 2, God shares several truths with us in his attempt to help us change how we behave toward Him and toward other people. Paul asks in his letter to the church for unity and to focus our thoughts like Christ. Pastor Jason describes how we’re all seeking the same aim and direction, but a lack of humility can create challenges. The path to humility is ultimately about following Jesus, and to do so we must avoid selfish ambitions and our inherent desire to be noticed by others. By focusing on helping other people, we follow the example given to us by Jesus.

When Love Came Down (Week 2): “The Purpose of the Incarnation”

Jason Mayhall, Lead Pastor – Galatians 3:26-4:7

Pastor Jason Mayhall teaches at Redemption Bible Church about the purpose of Jesus’ incarnation in our current Christmas season series “When Love Came Down.” Pastor Jason describes how Jesus’ divinity, resolve, and timing worked in perfect unison to establish Christianity, bringing everyone into the family of God. Using his family’s personal experience with their adoption process, parallels are drawn to God’s adoption of each of us into his family. Through that adoption we are granted God’s love and a permanent home among those who care for us. As the Christmas season rolls forward with parties, family, and distractions, this sermon is a good reminder that at the root of it all there remains a need to be thankful for what God has blessed us with. We receive God’s love even though we are all born broken and unworthy; all we need to do is receive him and believe.

When Love Came Down (Week 1): “The Necessity of the Incarnation”

Jason Mayhall, Lead Pastor – Hebrews 2:5-18

Redemption Bible Church starts a new series for the Christmas season titled “When Love Came Down.” This series kicks off with a look at Hebrews 2, led by Pastor Jason Mayhall. Pastor Jason grounds the audience with a look at the overarching theme of the book of Hebrews: the superiority of Jesus relative to others such as the angels. However, Jesus cared enough about us to involve himself in our lives personally, experiencing the many challenges we can face, things like prayers going unanswered, and being abandoned or betrayed. As we look ahead to the extravagance of the Christmas season, we are called to ask ourselves to consider that the most extravagant gift ever given was Jesus’ sacrifice to die for our sins, giving all of us a chance at salvation.
