Sacred Assembly – Ordinary People Revealing an Extraordinary God (Week 7): “Mission: Where We Act Like Jesus”

Jason Mayhall, Lead Pastor – Luke 10:25-37, James 1:22-27

Pastor Jason Mayhall leads Redemption Bible Church, teaching the connection between what we believe and what we do in our day-to-day lives. This is a part of our sermon series entitled “Sacred Assembly,” a look at what the Church is as an institution, and what makes a good one. Pastor Jason teaches about the Bible’s description of Missions and how serving is evidence of a righteous life. However, not every mission requires one to travel to a distant location. There’s an opportunity in the area we live in, to respond to the message and reach our community. A Mission is ultimately the movement of the church. Followers of Jesus don’t belong to a church – they are the church. Wherever they are, the church is present. Because God is on Mission, the people of God are, also. Our God is a sending God. Just as He sent His Son and His Holy Spirit to the world, He is sending His people into the world.

Sacred Assembly – Ordinary People Revealing an Extraordinary God (Week 6): “Baptism: How We Identify With Him”

Jason Mayhall, Lead Pastor – Romans 6:1-8

Pastor Jason Mayhall teaches at Redemption Bible Church about Baptism. This is a continuation of the sermon series entitled “Sacred Assembly,” a look at what the Church is as an institution, and what makes a good one. Baptism is the public declaration of faith, representing an active identification with Jesus in his death, burial and resurrection. We look at why people are baptized and what it signifies for the church as a whole.

Sacred Assembly – Ordinary People Revealing an Extraordinary God (Week 5): “Communion: When We Know Jesus”

Jason Mayhall, Lead Pastor – Luke 24:27-35

Redemption Bible Church continues the sermon series entitled “Sacred Assembly,” a look at what the Church is as an institution, and what makes a good one. Pastor Jason Mayhall leads the teaching about Communion, and how it represents Jesus’ broken body and shed blood for us. Each time we partake in Communion should be the pinnacle of our church gathers, as genuine believers – collectively and individually remembering His sacrifice for us.

Sacred Assembly – Ordinary People Revealing an Extraordinary God (Week 4): “Leaders: Who Leads His Church?”

Jason Mayhall, Lead Pastor – 1 Timothy 3:1-7

Pastor Jason Mayhall uses the book of Acts to describe what the four responsibilities of key leaders, also known as “Elders,” are. Redemption Bible Church continues the sermon series entitled “Sacred Assembly,” a look at what the Church is as an institution, and what makes a good one. Pastor Jason teaches this week on what is required of those who feel called to lead a church. Leaders are an essential part of God’s design for His people. Jesus is the overall leader that nourishes churches. The Holy Spirit is what calls qualified men to shepherd and guide His people. Elders are the ones to protect and feed the flock and model the character of Christ.

Sacred Assembly – Ordinary People Revealing an Extraordinary God (Week 3): “Preaching: Why We Must Preach”

Jason Mayhall, Lead Pastor – 2 Timothy 4:2-5

This week, Redemption Bible Church continues the sermon series entitled “Sacred Assembly,” a look at what the Church is as an institution, and what makes a good one. Pastor Jason Mayhall leads on how different churches approach preaching the Gospel, talking about the dozens of things that people use to evaluate a church and how preaching the Gospel is evolving in many churches. Taking it back to 2 Timothy, preaching is highlighted as God’s chosen instrument to create, convict, convert, and conform His people. Jesus commands His church to preach the Gospel as His Word saves people when they come to know who He is. Pastor Jason highlights some of the challenges of preaching, how one can best equip him/herself to listen to a preacher, and that at our core we all are in constant need of God’s word to be shared with us.

Sacred Assembly – Ordinary People Revealing an Extraordinary God (Week 2): “Discipleship: How We Become Like Jesus”

Jason Mayhall, Lead Pastor – Matthew 28:16-20

Pastor Jason Mayhall leads Redemption Bible Church in the discovery of what it means to be a disciple, and how discipleship is the process by which people become like Jesus. This is a continuation of the sermon series entitled “Sacred Assembly,” a look at what the Church is as an institution, and what makes a good one. The Christ-commanded product is a person called a disciple, but the process to get there can be messy. The church is designed to “make disciples” because disciples penetrate the world and multiply themselves. Key questions we unpack are: Do people in our lives know that we stand with Jesus? Also, why can this be difficult to share this with others?

Sacred Assembly – Ordinary People Revealing an Extraordinary God (Week 1): “The Church: What Is It?”

Jason Mayhall, Lead Pastor – Acts 2:42-47

Pastor Jason Mayhall leads Redemption Bible Church in the celebration of Mother’s Day by kicking off a new sermon series entitled “Sacred Assembly,” a look at what the church is as an institution, and what makes a good one. Pastor Jason talks about how it is impossible to love and follow Jesus and not include the church. The Bible shows us that Christianity is not intended to be private and independent. This can be a challenge for some, as churches can be misunderstood, misrepresented or misused. A good church, however, is not about anything other than Jesus. From Jesus flows the call to love, worship and serve our community.
